Italy Sardinia - Corsica: a sailing holiday on a charter yacht

Sardinia and Corsica

Italy Sardinia - Corsica

Sardinia and Corsica offer enchanting corners of unspoilt nature and breathtaking seascapes, secluded bays with crystalline waters only reachable from the sea.

The Northern part of Sardinia is an ideal area for those who like sailing and are looking for a sporting holiday. On your route you can sail through the "Bocche di Bonifacio", a real paradise for wind lovers, and visit the splendid islands of the Maddalena Archipelago: Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli and Santa Maria, or the islands in front of the Emerald Coast: Tavolara and Molara. The unique natural beauty of this area is combined to a glamorous social life, attracting the most prestigious yachts to the renowned ports of the Emerald Coast: Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, Baia Sardinia...

The main bases to charter catamarans and sailboats in North-East Sardinia are Cannigione and Portisco, only about 15 km from Olbia, which is connected by ferry to Italy's mainland and by plane to many European airports. To explore the West Coast the most convenient charter bases are Alghero (in the North) and Carloforte (in the South). More and more yachts are also available for charter from Cagliari, Sardinia's main town.

The narrow and windy channel of the Bocche di Bonifacio separates Sardinia from Corsica. This beautiful French island is very appreciated by charterers looking for peace, quiet and a close contact with nature. The indented western coastline offers dozens of bays and coves, famous for their white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, only accessible by sail or motor boat. Sailing in the area of Capo Corso, the northernmost stretch of the island where a few of the most renowned Mediterranean regattas take place, you can admire the powerful lighthouse on the Giraglia Rock. Visible from a distance of 28 nm, it's a big attraction and a favorite destination for yachtsmen. Nearby, the sheltered bay of Saint Florent offers a safe and scenic anchorage, with mooring possibility in the eponymous port.

Big ports with all facilities are also available. Sail yachts and catamarans can be chartered from the bases of Macinaggio, Ajaccio and Propriano.
